Description

The Game Jam +1 is a collaborative creation event for video games or board games, bringing together people from various creative fields (music, software development, visual design, writing, photography, etc.). This Game Jam is not about competition, but about actively connecting people, sharing knowledge, and launching longer-term collaborative projects. The first edition takes place from May 22 to 24, 2026, in various locations across the city of Vernier.

History

Supporting the local game creation network

Through games, Play Don't Tell supports connections between multimedia creators. In 2026, the association is organizing the first edition of the Game Jam +1 in the canton of Geneva to bring together local talent from both technical and creative fields. Enthusiasts are all invited to create and launch new projects together. Music and sound, software development, visual design, writing, photography, animation, project management: games bring together many disciplines.

Sharing and social cohesion through games

The Game Jam +1 introduces a unique constraint: participants register in pairs with someone outside the game creation world. As a result, teams formed on-site are made up half of people discovering game development. This is an opportunity to benefit from new perspectives, build unexpected interdisciplinary bridges, and collectively break free from traditional ideas about games. If we play together, why not create games together!

Showcasing the created games

For the Game Jam +1, there are no winners: the produced games are not ranked but shared publicly with the residents of Vernier. The event includes a public showcase on Sunday, following the game production on Friday and Saturday. Creators can present their work during a public event, have their games tested, and try the games of other teams. There are no prizes to win, but new collaborations to start!
